It is made by placing pineapple slices and cherries on the bottom of a cake pan, then topping them with a batter made from sugar, butter, eggs, and flour.

Ingredient

– 1/2  cup (1 stick) unsalted butter – 1 cup  light brown sugar – 1 can (20 ounces) pineapple slices, drained – Maraschino cherrie

– 1 cup all-purpose flour – 1 teaspoon baking powder – 1/4  teaspoon salt – 1/2  cup granulated sugar

– 2  large egg – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 1/2  cup whole milk

Instructions 

- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). - Melt the butter in a 9-inch round cake pan over medium heat.

- Add the brown sugar and stir until it is dissolved and bubbly. - Place  a cherry in the center of each pineapple slice, and set aside.

- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. - In a separate large bowl, beat the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.

- Pour the batter over the pineapple and cherries in the cake pan. - Bake  for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

-Let the cake cool for 10 minutes in the pan. -Place a plate over the top of the cake pan, then invert the cake onto the plate. - Serve the cake warm or at room temperature, and enjoy
