What is Meatloaf?

Meatloaf is a classic American dish made from ground meat, breadcrumbs, eggs, and spices. The mixture is typically shaped into a loaf and baked in the oven.

Ingredients 

2 pounds ground beef, 1 cup breadcrumbs, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, 1 onion (finely chopped), 2 cloves garlic,

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/4 cup ketchup

Instruction

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.

Mix until well combined.Transfer the mixture to a 9x5 inch loaf pan and shape it into a loaf. Spread the ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).Let the meatloaf cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips 

For a moist and flavorful meatloaf, be sure to use ground beef with a higher fat content (such as 80/20).

You can customize this recipe by adding your favorite spices or vegetables. Try adding some chopped bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms for extra flavor and nutrition.

Leftover meatloaf makes a great sandwich filling. Simply slice the meatloaf and serve it on toasted bread with some mayonnaise or mustard.
