What is Meatloaf?

Meatloaf is a classic American dish made from ground meat, breadcrumbs, eggs, and spices. The mixture is typically shaped into a loaf and baked in the oven.

While the exact ingredients may vary depending on the recipe, meatloaf is known for being hearty, flavorful, and satisfying.

2 pounds ground beef, 1 cup breadcrumbs, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, 1 onion (finely chopped), 2 cloves garlic,

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/4 cup ketchup

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.

Mix until well combined.Transfer the mixture to a 9x5 inch loaf pan and shape it into a loaf. Spread the ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).Let the meatloaf cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

For a moist and flavorful meatloaf, be sure to use ground beef with a higher fat content (such as 80/20).

You can customize this recipe by adding your favorite spices or vegetables. Try adding some chopped bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms for extra flavor and nutrition.

Leftover meatloaf makes a great sandwich filling. Simply slice the meatloaf and serve it on toasted bread with some mayonnaise or mustard.

To make cleanup easier, line the loaf pan with aluminum foil before adding the meat mixture.
